Our History

Over 100 years ago D.D. Palmer of Davenport, Iowa delivered the first Chiropractic adjustment. B.J. Palmer (D.D.'s son), developed Chiropractic as a "philosophy, art, and science of things natural; a system of adjusting segments of the spinal column by hand only for the correction of the cause of dis-ease."

Chiropractic today in our office has changed little from the technique that healed the "incurable" so many years ago. Chiropractors are doctors of the nervous system and address the cause of dis-ease and not the effects. "The nervous system controls and coordinates ALL the other organs and structures and relates the individual to his environment." (Gray's Anatomy Vol. 27,28,29,30) All nerves originate in the brain and branch out to approximately 75 trillion cells in your body. The brain functions at 100% at all times, coordinating thousands of chemical reactions that give you life and allow you to be at peace with your surroundings. The brain and nervous system are constantly taking in information and compensating for the physical, emotional, and chemical stresses you encounter daily. As long as the nervous system is free to maintain 100% communication with your body then you are able to function at an optimal level.

Subluxations of the upper cervical spine put pressure on the brain stem where all 75 trillion nerves cross. This increase in pressure slows down and even eliminates some of the communication between the brain and body. This decrease in nerve impulses lessens your body's ability to coordinate cellular activity and you enter a state of disease leading to illness and in the worst cases, death. By removing the subluxation in the upper cervical spine and related nerve interference the brain can restore proper organ and tissue function.

Through objective instrumentation, developed by B.J. Palmer, and analyzing specific X-ray views we are able to identify and correct your subluxation. No drug, surgery, or outside intervention can do more to restore life and maintain optimal health than your body's innate intelligence.
